Gayatri Mantra Meaning 

The words Gayatri Mantra could be translated as meaning: prayer of praise that awakens and liberates. One of the reasons this mantra is so effective is that it combines both prayer and mantra techniques that take you very deep into meditation.

Gayatri Mantra Origins

The Vedas are some of the earliest scriptures, going back 2,500 to 3,500 years. Gayatri is mentioned numerous times as being the supreme mantra. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna proclaims to Arjuna, “I am the Gayatri.” This means that all of Krishna’s attributes can be experienced by chanting Gayatri.

Holika Dahan Muhurta

According to Hindu scriptures Holika Dahan, which is also known as Holika Deepak or Chhoti Holi, should be done during Pradosh Kaal (which starts after sunset) while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing. Bhadra prevails during first half of Purnimasi Tithi and all good work should be avoided when Bhadra prevails. 

Holika Dahan Muhurta is decided based on following rules. 

The first preference to get Holika Dahan Muhurta is during Pradosh while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing and Bhadra is over. If Bhadra prevails during Pradosh but it ends before midnight then Holika Dahan should be done after Bhadra is over. If Bhadra is getting over after midnight then only Holika Dahan should be done in Bhadra and preferably during Bhadra Punchha. However one should avoid Bhadra Mukha and in no condition Holika Dahan should be done in Bhadra Mukha. Doing so brings bad luck for the whole year not only for individuals but for whole city and country. Many times Bhadra Punchha is not available between Pradosh and midnight. In such situations one should do Holika Dahan during Pradosh. In rare occasions when neither Pradosh nor Bhadra Punchha is available then one should do Holika Dahan after Pradosh.
Choosing right Muhurta for Holika Dahan is more important than choosing right Muhurta for any other festivals. For other festivals doing puja at wrong time will not bring puja benefits but doing Holika Dahan at wrong time would bring suffering and misfortune.

मांगलिक दोष (Manglik Dosha) जिसे कुज दोष (Kuja Dosha) भी कहते हैं विवाह के विषय में बहुत ही गंभीर और अमंगलकारी मानी जाती है. मांगलिक दोष से पीड़ित लड़का हो या लड़की दोनों की शादी को लेकर माता पिता की परेशानी विशेष रूप से बढ़ जाती है क्योंकि गृहस्थ जीवन के संदर्भ में मांगलिक दोष बहुत सी कष्टदायी और दुखदायी होती है.
विवाह में मांगलिक दोष (Manglik Dosha in marriage)

मांगलिक दोष (Manglik Dosha) होने पर वैवाहिक सम्बन्ध की इजाजत ज्योतिष शास्त्र इसलिए नहीं देता है क्योंकि इससे वैवाहिक जीवन में अशांति, कलह, टकराव और तनाव की स्थिति बनी रहती है (Manglik Dosha causes fights and stress in the relationship). पति पत्नी में प्रेम की जगह वैर और शत्रुता का भाव बना रहता है जो गृहस्थ जीवन को उजाड़ कर रख देता है. वास्तव में मांगलिक दोष ऐसी दोष मानी जाती है जो विवाह जैसे प्रेम पूर्ण रिश्ते में प्रेम को पनपने का अवसर ही नहीं देती. इस दोष में पति पत्नी में से किसी की मृत्यु होने की भी संभावना रहती है.
मांगलिक दोष में विवाह (Marriage of a Manglik person)
मांगलिक दोष वैवाहिक जीवन के लिए शुभ नहीं माना जाता परंतु कहते हैं जैसे ज़हर ज़हर को काटता है उसी प्रकार मांगलिक दोष ही मांगलिक को दोष को काटता है कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि अगर वर और वधू दोनों की कुण्डली में मांगलिक दोष है तो यह दोष नहीं लगता (If the bride and groom both are manglik, it loses effect) यानी शादी हो सकती है. कुण्डली मिलान के समय अगर वर अथवा वधू में से कोई एक मांगलिक है और दूसरा नहीं इस कारण से विवाह सम्बन्ध नहीं हो पा रहा है और आपको रिश्ता बहुत पसंद है तो कुण्डली की जांच किसी अच्छे विद्वान ज्योतिषी अथवा पंडित से करवानी चाहिए क्योंकि मांगलिक के भी कई प्रकार हैं और हो सकता है कि आप किसी अन्य प्रकार से मांगलिक हों अथवा जिससे आपकी शादी की बात चल रही है वह भी मांगलिक नहीं हो.
मांगलिक कुण्डली (Manglik Kundali)
किसी कि कुण्डली में मांगलिक दोष है इसकी पहचान का तरीका यह है कि जब मंगल कुण्डली में प्रथम भाव यानी लग्न में होता है तो मांगलिक कहलाता है इसी प्रकार जब मंगल लग्न से चौथे, सातवें, आठवें या बारहवें स्थान पर होता है तो मांगलिक कुण्डली कहलाती है.

समय पर अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा करने की इच्छा के कारण माता-पिता व भावी वर-वधू भी चाहते है कि अनुकुल समय पर ही विवाह हो जायें. कुण्डली में विवाह विलम्ब से होने के योग होने पर विवाह की बात बार-बार प्रयास करने पर भी कहीं बनती नहीं है. इस प्रकार की स्थिति होने पर शीघ्र विवाह के उपाय करने हितकारी रहते है. उपाय करने से शीघ्र विवाह के मार्ग बनते है. तथा विवाह के मार्ग की बाधाएं दूर होती है.
उपाय करते समय ध्यान में रखने योग्य बातें (Precautions while doing Jyotish remedies)

• 1. किसी भी उपाय को करते समय, व्यक्ति के मन में यही विचार होना चाहिए, कि वह जो भी उपाय कर रहा है, वह ईश्वरीय कृ्पा से अवश्य ही शुभ फल देगा.
• 2. सभी उपाय पूर्णत: सात्विक है तथा इनसे किसी के अहित करने का विचार नहीं है.
• 3. उपाय करते समय उपाय पर होने वाले व्ययों को लेकर चिन्तित नहीं होना चाहिए.
• 4. उपाय से संबन्धित गोपनीयता रखना हितकारी होता है.
• 5. यह मान कर चलना चाहिए, कि श्रद्धा व विश्वास से सभी कामनाएं पूर्ण होती है.

आईये शीघ्र विवाह के उपायों को समझने का प्रयास करें (Remedies for a late marriage)

1. हल्दी के प्रयोग से उपाय
विवाह योग लोगों को शीघ्र विवाह के लिये प्रत्येक गुरुवार को नहाने वाले पानी में एक चुटकी हल्दी डालकर स्नान करना चाहिए. भोजन में केसर का सेवन करने से विवाह शीघ्र होने की संभावनाएं बनती है.
2. पीला वस्त्र धारण करना
ऎसे व्यक्ति को सदैव शरीर पर कोई भी एक पीला वस्त्र धारण करके रखना चाहिए.
3. वृ्द्धो का सम्मान करना
उपाय करने वाले व्यक्ति को कभी भी अपने से बडों व वृ्द्धों का अपमान नहीं करना चाहिए.
4. गाय को रोटी देना
जिन व्यक्तियों को शीघ्र विवाह की कामना हों उन्हें गुरुवार को गाय को दो आटे के पेडे पर थोडी हल्दी लगाकर खिलाना चाहिए. तथा इसके साथ ही थोडा सा गुड व चने की पीली दाल का भोग गाय को लगाना शुभ होता है.
5. शीघ्र विवाह प्रयोग
इसके अलावा शीघ्र विवाह के लिये एक प्रयोग भी किया जा सकता है. यह प्रयोग शुक्ल पक्ष के प्रथम गुरुवार को किया जाता है. इस प्रयोग में गुरुवार की शाम को पांच प्रकार की मिठाई, हरी ईलायची का जोडा तथा शुद्ध घी के दीपक के साथ जल अर्पित करना चाहिये. यह प्रयोग लगातार तीन गुरुवार को करना चाहिए.
6. केले के वृ्क्ष की पूजा
गुरुवार को केले के वृ्क्ष के सामने गुरु के 108 नामों का उच्चारण करने के साथ शुद्ध घी का दीपक जलाना चाहिए. अथा जल भी अर्पित करना चाहिए.
7. सूखे नारियल से उपाय
एक अन्य उपाय के रुप में सोमवार की रात्रि के 12 बजे के बाद कुछ भी ग्रहण नहीं किया जाता, इस उपाय के लिये जल भी ग्रहण नहीं किया जाता. इस उपाय को करने के लिये अगले दिन मंगलवार को प्रात: सूर्योदय काल में एक सूखा नारियल लें, सूखे नारियल में चाकू की सहायता से एक इंच लम्बा छेद किया जाता है. अब इस छेद में 300 ग्राम बूरा (चीनी पाऊडर) तथा 11 रुपये का पंचमेवा मिलाकर नारियल को भर दिया जाता है.
यह कार्य करने के बाद इस नारियल को पीपल के पेड के नीचे गड्डा करके दबा देना. इसके बाद गड्डे को मिट्टी से भर देना है. तथा कोई पत्थर भी उसके ऊपर रख देना चाहिए.
यह क्रिया लगातार 7 मंगलवार करने से व्यक्ति को लाभ प्राप्त होता है. यह ध्यान रखना है कि सोमवार की रात 12 बजे के बाद कुछ भी ग्रहण नहीं करना है.
8. मांगलिक योग का उपाय (Remedies for Manglik Yoga)
अगर किसी का विवाह कुण्डली के मांगलिक योग के कारण नहीं हो पा रहा है, तो ऎसे व्यक्ति को मंगल वार के दिन चण्डिका स्तोत्र का पाठ मंगलवार के दिन तथा शनिवार के दिन सुन्दर काण्ड का पाठ करना चाहिए. इससे भी विवाह के मार्ग की बाधाओं में कमी होती है.
9. छुआरे सिरहाने रख कर सोना
यह उपाय उन व्यक्तियों को करना चाहिए. जिन व्यक्तियों की विवाह की आयु हो चुकी है. परन्तु विवाह संपन्न होने में बाधा आ रही है. इस उपाय को करने के लिये शुक्रवार की रात्रि में आठ छुआरे जल में उबाल कर जल के साथ ही अपने सोने वाले स्थान पर सिरहाने रख कर सोयें तथा शनिवार को प्रात: स्नान करने के बाद किसी भी बहते जल में इन्हें प्रवाहित कर दें.

सर्पदंश की घटनाएं अब अखबारों की सुर्खियां बनने लगी हैं. क्योंकि अब उनका प्रणय काल करीब है. गर्मी भी बढ़ रही हैं. सापों की गतिविधियाँ भी बढ़ रही हैं। इसलिए इनसे सावधान रहने की जरुरत है. भारत में जहरीले सांपो की एक बड़ी चौकड़ी है -करैत (Krait), कोबरा (Cobra), रसेल वाईपर (Russell Viper) और सा स्केल्ड वाईपर (Saw Scaled Viper). मगर ज्यादातर हिस्सों में कोबरा और करैत ही मिलते हैं. 

सांपों से बचाव के लिए...

यदि आप गावों में रहते हैं तो टॉर्च या पर्याप्त रोशनी के साथ ही बाहर जाएँ. बरसात में ख़ास तौर पर. पैरों को गम बूट ज्यादा सुरक्षा देते हैं मगर यदि आपके पास गम बूट नही है तो ऐसा जूता पहनें जो पैर को ऊपर तक अच्छी तरह ढक सके. साथ में एक डंडा और गमछा भी रखें. सापों का प्रणय- प्रजनन काल करीब है-ख़ास तौर पर नाग-कोबरा का.

कोबरा एक आक्रामक साँप है. यह अपनी टेरिटरी बना कर रहता है यानी एक ऐसा क्षेत्र जिसमें किसी को भी आने पर इसे नागवार लगता है. यदि प्रणय काल में कोई इस क्षेत्र से गुजरता है तो यह आक्रमण कर सकता है. इस पर पैर पड़ जाय तो यह काट ही लेगा.

क्या करिए अगर नागराज सहसा सामने आ जाएं?

अगर किसी की अचानक नाग से भेट हो जाय तो वह अपना गमछा या कोई भी कपडा तुरत-फुरत निकाली हुयी शर्ट या गंजी उस पर फेक दें. यह आदतन उससे उलझ लेगा और वह रफू चक्कर हो सकता है. कोबरा को लाठी से मारना ज़रा अभ्यास का काम है. लाठी तभी इस्तेमाल में लायें जब मरता क्या न करता की पोजीशन हो जाय. क्योंकि ऐसा देखा गया है कि निशाना यदि उसके मर्म स्थल [फन और इर्दगिर्द का हिस्सा] पर नही पडा और आदतन लाठी मारने वाले ने लाठी ऊपर उठायी तो वह उसके शरीर पर आ गिरेगा. और फिर वह क्रोध में काटेगा और विष भी ज्यादा निकालेगा.

विषैले सापों में दो विषदंत आगे ही ऊपर के जबड़े में होता है और 2 विष की थैली इसी से दोनों और जुडी रहती हैं. खुदा न खास्ता साँप काट ही ले, तो धैर्य रखें, घबरा कर दौड़ न लगायें, इससे तो विष रक्त परिवहन के साथ जल्दी ही पूरे शरीर में फैल जायेगा. रूमाल, गमछा से जहाँ दंश का निशान है उसके ऊपर के एक हड्डी वाले भाग यानी पैर में काटा है तो जांघ में और हाथ में काटा है तो कुहनी के ऊपर बाँध दे, बहुत कसा हुआ नही. पुकार कर किसी को बुलाएं या धीरे धीरे मदद के लिए आसपास पहुंचे और तुंरत एंटीवेनम सूई के लिए पी एच सी पर या जिला अस्पताल पर पहुंचे.

एंटीवेनम सूई है एकमात्र इलाज (Antivenom Injection):

यह सूई अगर आसपास किसी बाजार हाट के मेडिकल स्टोर पर मिल जाय तो पहले इंट्रामस्कुलर (Intramuscular Injection) देकर अस्पताल तक पहुंचा जा सकता है, जहाँ आवश्यकता जैसी होगी चिकित्सक फिर इंट्रा वेनस दे सकता है. अगर आप के क्षेत्र में साँप काटने की घटनाएँ अक्सर होती है तो पी एच सी के चिकित्सक से तत्काल मिल कर एंटी वेनम की एडवांस व्यवस्था सुनिशचित करें- मेडिकल दूकानों पर भी इसे पहले से रखवाया जा सकता है. एंटीवेनम 10 हज़ार लोगों में एकाध को रिएक्शन करता है-कुशल चिकित्सक एंटीवेनम के साथ डेकाड्रान(Decadron)/कोरामिन(Coramin) की भी सूई साथ साथ देता है-बल्कि ऐसा अनिवार्य रूप से करना भी चाहिए। याद रखें जहरीले सांप के काटने पर कई वायल एंटीवेनम के लग सकते हैं. इसलिए इनका पहले से ही प्रयाप्त इंतजाम जरुरी है.

कैसे पहचाने कि जहरीले सांप ने काटा है?

कोबरा के काट लेने के लक्षण क्या हैं- काटा हुआ स्थान पन्द्रह मिनट के भीतर सूजने लगता है. यह कोबरा के काटे जाने का सबसे प्रमुख पहचान है. ध्यान से देखें तो दो मोटी सूई के धसने से बने निशान-विषदंत के निशान दिखेंगे. प्राथमिक उपचार में नयी ब्लेड से धन के निशान का चीरा सूई के धसने वाले दोनों निशान पर लगा कर दबा दबा कर खून निकालें और किसी के मुहँ में यदि छाला घाव आदि न हो तो वह खून चूस कर उगल भी सकता है.

विष का असर केवल खून में जाने पर ही होता है यदि किसी के मुंह में छाला, पेट में अल्सर आदि न हो तो वह सर्पविष बिना नुकसान के पचा भी सकता है. करैत जयादा खतरनाक है मगर इसके लक्षण बहुत उभर कर सामने नही आते यद्यपि थोड़ी सूजन इसमें भी होती है. करैत और कोबरा दोनों के विष स्नायुतंत्र पर घातक प्रभाव डालते हैं.

कौन ज्यादा खतरनाक? कोबरा या करैत ?

कोबरा का 12 माईक्रो ग्राम आदमी को मार सकता है मगर वह एक भरपूर दंश में 320 माईक्रोग्राम विष तक मनुष्य के शरीर में उतार सकता है. मगर प्रायः लोग पावों को तेज झटक देते हैं तो पूरा विष शरीर में नही आ पाता. इसलिए कोबरा का काटा आदमी 5-6 घंटे तक अमूमन नही मरता. और यह समय पर्याप्त है एंटीवेनम चिकित्सा के उपलब्ध होने के लिए.

Maha Shivaratri Puja Vidhi

Following Puja Vidhi during Maha Shivaratri has been collected from various religious texts. We have included all main rituals which are suggested during Maha Shivaratri.

1. It is suggested to have only single meal a day before Maha Shivaratri fasting. It is one of the common practices during fasting to make sure any undigested food is not left in the digestion system on the fasting day.
2. On the day of Shivaratri, one should get up early in the morning and take bath. It is suggested to add black sesame seeds into the water. It is believed that the holy bath on the day of Shivaratri purifies not only the body but also the soul. If possible bathing in Ganges is preferred.
3. After taking bath devotees should take Sankalp (संकल्प) to observer full day fast and to break the fast on the next day. During Sankalp devotees pledge for self-determination throughout the fasting period and seek blessing of Lord shiva to finish the fast without any interference. Hindu fasts are strict and people pledge for self-determination and seek God blessing before starting them to finish them successfully.
4. Devotees should abstain from all type of food during the fasting. In the strict form of fasting even water is not allowed. However consumption of fruits and milk is suggested during day time which should be followed by strict fasting during night. In other words during day time fruits and milk can be consumed.

5. Devotees should take second bath in the evening before doing Shiva Puja or visiting temple. If one is not able to visit the temple then makeshift Shiva Ling can be made to perform Puja activities. One can even shape the mud in Linga form and apply Ghee to perform Abhishek Puja at home.
6. Shiva Puja should be done during night. Shivaratri Puja can be performed one time or four times during the night. The whole night duration can be divided into four to get four Prahar (प्रहर) to perform Shiva Puja four times. Devotees who want to perform single Puja should do it during midnight. Please check Maha Shivaratri Puja Timings to know timings of four Prahars for your city.
7. As per Puja Viddhi, Abhishek of Shiva Lingam should be performed with different materials. The milk, rose water, sandalwood paste, yogurt, honey, Ghee, sugar and the water are commonly used for Abhishek. Devotees, who perform four Prahar Puja, must perform water Abhishek during first Prahar, curd Abhishek during second Prahar, Ghee Abhishek during third Prahar and honey Abhishek during fourth Prahar apart from other materials.
8. After the Abhishek ritual, Shiva Linga is adorned with the garland made of Bilva leaves. It is believed that Bilva leaves cool down Lord Shiva.
9. After that Chandan or Kumkum is applied to the Shiva Linga which is followed by lighting lamp and Dhupa. The other items which are used to adorn Lord Shiva include flower of Madar (मदार) which is also known as Aak (आक), Vibhuti which is also known as Bhasm. Vibhuti is sacred ash which is made using dried cow dung.
10. The mantra to chant during Puja duration is ॐ नमः शिवाय (Om Namah Shivaya).
11. Devotees should break the fast next day after taking bath. Devotees should break the fast between sunrise and before the end of Chaturdashi Tithi to get maximum benefit of the Vrat. Please check Maha Shivaratri page to know the time to break the fast for your city.
